Prior to working with LendingMetrics, all underwriting at Propensio was conducted manually. As application volumes increased, it became clear that this approach was not scalable and would limit the organisation’s ability to grow efficiently.
In addition, their reliance on manual data collection, including customer-submitted bank statements, introduced operational friction and increased the risk of inconsistency and human error.

In 2022, to support growth and improve scalability, Propensio implemented our Auto Decision Platform, introducing automation across their credit decisioning process. Two-thirds of underwriting decisions are now automated, allowing applications to be processed instantly while more complex cases continue to be reviewed by underwriters where needed.

Automation created the operational capacity to scale efficiently. In the year following ADP implementation, lending volumes increased by 300%, and by 2025 volumes were 350% higher than in 2022. Crucially, this growth was achieved without a proportional increase in underwriting headcount, helping Propensio expand sustainably while maintaining control and consistency.

The introduction of OpenBankVision transformed how customer banking data was accessed and assessed. Manual bank statement collection was replaced with secure digital access to transaction data, reducing average decision times from several days to just hours. This improved data consistency, reduced manual handling and delivered faster outcomes for customers.

As Propensio continues to scale, the business is focused on consolidating their foundations across process and technology. While ADP is currently central to credit decisioning, there is scope to extend its use into other areas, including collections strategy.
